Our Studio

The Hill Potters' Guild Studio is located in the basement of Guild Hall where we share with the Burr House Spinners and Weaver. It is located a short distance west of Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill.

Our fully equiped studio have 6 potter wheels and 2 electric kilns, along with other equipments including a slab roller, an extruder, a spray booth, a drying cabinet and ample storage shelvings. In addition to standard studio glazes, we have a good collection of raw ingredients to make individual / custom glazes, stains, and slips.

We also have a outdoor kiln where we use it for Raku firing, and we are currently experimenting both soda and ash firing.

Our studio is open to members 7 days a week.

Membership

Our Guild welcomes membership registration from both novice and experienced potters. Our membership is on annual basis and the $250 annual fee covers studio materials, firing, and operation.

Guild members have access to our studio and equipments Their works would be included into our Bi-annual Sales in May and November upon juried. For new members & novice potters, we offers a mentorship program for the first two years to familiarize new members with firing and glaze-making skills.

As part of the membership duty, all members are required to partake in studio operation and perform general studio maintenance and firing as per studio schedule, as a clean studio free of toxic chemicals and clay dust is very important in a healthy working environment. Each member is also required to perform shifts during the Burr House's seasonal hours as part of membership responsibilities, as it is jointly operated by our guild and the Burr House Spinners and Weavers.
